How long have you been with RJE and what do you do at our company?
This year was my 10 year anniversary! I am the design director in Indianapolis — my position here is to help lead our incredible design team through the day to day and to keep a focus on continuing growth and education for our department.
What led you to RJE?
I had visited RJE when I was in college on a tour and then when I had an internship downtown, I met the one and only Nancy Wright during a textile presentation. When I was in the process of looking to start my career, I had reached out to Nancy to see if there was an opportunity here and the rest is history.
What has been your favorite project so far?
Oh boy so many over the years, but I would have to say working on our showroom. This space is very personal to me because it not only showcases the product we sell, but also represents who we are as a company.
What is your favorite thing about working at RJE?
It is a core professional value of mine to be aligned with a company that leads with caring for the customer and building relationships as a priority, and RJE does exactly this. It’s by far my favorite thing about RJE.
Describe RJE in three words:
Philanthropic, welcoming, trustworthy.
What does hugging your customer mean to you?
It’s getting to know who [your customers] are as individuals and creating an environment they feel comfortable in. We want them to have trust and faith in the partnership with the team. This includes lots of open communications throughout the process. Their success is our success, and you always have a friend here at RJE.
What does an inspiring space include in your eyes?
An inspiring space is one that is welcoming and warm. I also think having personal touches for the client added throughout the space makes it feel more like that third space.
What can customers expect from working with you?
Furniture is hard and it often isn’t easy to digest. I always lead with empathy and am flexible with presenting and talking through decisions to make the process go from daunting to enjoyable. Plus, I find laughing makes decisions easier, so there may be some comedic relief added, free of charge. 😊
What is your current favorite product from Allsteel and its portfolio of brands?
From Allsteel, I love the new shapes of the Allsteel table selections. We are living in a digital age and having different shapes help us with digital equity in meeting spaces.
For the portfolio brands, I love that we have a connection with Zilenzio. Acoustics can be an afterthought sometimes, and having a brand that offers different applications to be incorporated in the space that are aesthetically pleasing and can even be personalized is a value add.
Describe yourself in three words:
Dependable, sincere, motivated.
If you were to write a book, what would it be about?
I live for creating an itinerary for when we travel, so probably tips and tricks on that.
What emoji do you use the most?
The little hugging guy emoji. 🤗
Favorite way to spend your free time:
Spending it with my 2-year-old daughter and my husband. We love to travel to our family’s Florida home in Hobe Sound.
Salty or sweet?
Salty/sweet. Love Restoration Hardware chocolate chip cookies with sea salt on top.
Favorite place you have ever been:
Napa (CA) for my 30th birthday.
Favorite downtown Indy spot:
Frances and Fern Boutique. Support local!
Do you think you would make a good spy?
Spy- probably not, private detective- maybe
Any personal mantra or words to live by that you follow?
Ever since I was young it has always been engrained in me the golden rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” 😊 I see this as always lead with empathy and kindness.
