Name: Laurie Grandys
RJE Location: Indianapolis, IN
How long have you been with RJE, and what’s your role in one sentence?
I’ve been here 13 years – in charge of service, warranty and punch product resolutions.
What led you to RJE?
Long story involving the Pacers, how much time do we have?
What’s a project or moment at RJE that’s stuck with you—and why?
DWWSWWD (do what we say we will do) – working for RJE has opened my eyes to how customer service should be. Too many times, I’ve been disappointed when I work with someone else (in personal matters or in business life) and it just doesn’t meet my expectations or the situation changes in the wrong direction.
What do you look forward to most in your workday at RJE?
It’s ever changing, I learn something new or different every day.
If RJE were a person, how would you describe them?
Fun, loving, and caring, yet challenging at times.
How do you personally bring “hug your customer” to life?
I have always been a physical hugger, so this just comes naturally. Live the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated!
What elements make a space inspiring to you? Color? Flow? Light? Something else?
I believe that there are places for everything – I’m not a fan of clutter or things being placed willy nilly, so I’m looking for structure and sleek lines.
What’s your signature style when working with clients or partners?
Always be honest with them and be true to yourself and the organization.
What is your current favorite product from Allsteel and its portfolio of brands?
Allsteel’s chairs are pretty cool.
Why that one?
Their chairs are well made and look good!
Salty or sweet?
Both

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?
I love American history + learning more about Indiana history as well.
If you hosted a podcast, what would it be called and what would it be about?
All about Indiana State Parks and the best Inns to stay at with your dog(s).
What’s your go-to recharge activity outside of work?
Walking at Eagle Creek Park with my dog Jacki.
What’s your favorite hidden gem in Indy (or your city)?
Well, if I say then everyone would want to go.
If you had a secret superpower at work, what would it be?
I really don’t know, maybe having more patience?
What’s one thing on your desk you can’t live without?
My FANS! While people are complaining about how cold it is, I still have two (2) fans blowing on me.
What’s your go-to pump-up song before a big meeting or presentation?
Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman”.
What’s something new you’ve learned or tried recently?
The new Outlook, not a real fan of it!
If you could swap roles with someone at RJE for a day, who would it be and why?
Denny – he’s retired.
